Hey guys, Jack Parkerson here. As you can probably tell, I love talking about personal finance, which is ultimately my reason for starting this site. I’m in my 20s and I currently work in a cubicle from 9 to 5 as a software developer in corporate America. This blog will detail my pursuit of financial freedom, leaving the cube, and what exactly I’m doing to get there. Call me an ignorant millennial, but I don’t want to spend the majority of life waiting to retire and living on someone else’s terms. By managing our finances and investments wisely, I believe we can live a totally different lifestyle than the one we were taught to live. This is why I want to share exactly the things I do and what I’ve learned, in hopes of promoting an alternative mindset among millennials when it comes to finance.

In this blog, I am 100% transparent with my financials so that you know the lessons and tips I provide are applicable to the average person. I enjoy digging into the numbers behind purchases and investments so that I can have the decisions in front of me in a factual manner rather than allowing it to be emotional. Where you might normally read a finance post that emotionally proclaims, “debt is bad”, I plan on explaining the mathematics behind the debt and what actions should be taken in different scenarios. After all, taking on debt allowed me to reach financial independence at 22. This is just one example, but there’s much more to come on Does That Make Cents.
